"Soccer player Anthony Van Loo was diagnosed years ago with a heart condition, but was again allowed to play after the implantation of a defibrillator. This was done a few years back. Last weekend, playing with his team Roeselare in Belgian First Division, he had an actual heart attack during the game. After a few seconds the defibrillator diagnosed the arrhythmia (his heart is supposed to have reached 300 bpm for a few seconds) and autonomously administered a corrective jolt, as can be seen at the 0:15 mark. He was allowed to leave hospital the next and no additional damage (but the existing condition) is expected to be found as there is almost no delay between the attack and the treatment. So I enlisted in the Navy. I'm also putting in an officer application. If I don't get selected for an officer position, I'll ship out June 25th for 2 months of basic, then 2 years of training to run the nuclear reactors in carriers or submarines. I think the three things I'm going to be applying for to receive a commission are to teach the nuclear school or nuclear engineer (so I'm going to end up in the same place) or aviator... if I get aviator I'd go to navy OCS for 3 months, which VERY TOUGH. It's run by Marine drill instructors. I'm not sure I'd make it through that.

At least I'll find out quickly if I'm going to be an officer. At some point they're going to fly me to Washington DC and after several hours of officers quizzing me on tough physics stuff I'll go for a face to face interview with a full four star admiral, Admiral Donald, who will tell me right then and there his decision. Even if I don't make it now, I'd make it during the 2 year training process and I go in as an E-3, quickly to be promoted to E-4. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be getting my bonus because officers don't get signing bonuses or college loan repayment. :(
